As Spirit Bear shambles towards an ending, I'm sure there are other books out there that demand my attention. So, I will take suggestions. A few criteria, I am not going to do a chapter by chapter analysis of the Wheel of Time books or the Sword of Truth. That would take forever and a half and I'd probably kill myself. I may do a series over view, however, of those two.

So, give me suggestions and comment as to why you think I should go through this book. Examples are always welcomed.

After that I'll put up a poll.

Sound good?

I've only read about chapter 3 of 1984. I love Animal Farm, favorite book ever. And got 1984 for my birthday this year. I only read what I read of 1984 so far because I was too lazy to go downstairs and get the book I was currently reading at that time.

Now I'm reading House of Leaves, and after that? Either Children of Men or 1984.

Now, onto your question.

I read some of Brave New World, but the scene with the babies and the books made me sick-sad. After that I just sort of...lost track of what was going on? Something about someone inviting a girl to golf, maybe? And then the Library wanted it back.

Ah, pity. But yeah, the society does make you a bit sick... which is the point, I spose.

I've only read Animal Farm the once, a long time ago. I haven't read Children of Men, but i saw the movie... could be a good book, maybe i ought to check it out. Dystopias are always interesting.

I haven't heard of House of Leaves, what's it like?

....
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
I finally get asked the impossible question!

Umm...it's a mindfuck.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Leaves

Basically, it's about ... hm.
It's 3 stories in one.
Johnny Truant is told by his friend that there's a new room open in his apartment building, so Johnny checks it out. The room belonged to Zampano, and old blind man. Johnny finds Zampano's life's work, an academic study of something called "The Navidson Record" which is an autobiographical film about the non-physics obeying house in which the Navidson's live.

However, in Johnny's world (Like ours), the Navidson Record never existed.

TADA!

My reaction, on finishing that book, was, "what the fuck just happened?" Even if I read it again, I'm not sure it would make sense. So, of course, I must recommend it to everyone ever.
