Title The Secrets of Flight (canon version)
Characters Nathan
Author's notes So, I wrote a version where Nathan discovers how he knew how to fly and then Heroes when and said WRONG! This is my response to that.
He should have worn his seatbelt.
This thought repeated itself in his head over and over and over again as he sat in the hospital’s waiting room. He should have worn his seatbelt. But how was he supposed to know that he’d go flying up into the air like that? (And he had flown, he knew that, he had been hovering there up in the air watching as the car was pushed into the barrier unable to do anything about it screaming his wife’s name, utterly helpless.) How was he supposed to know though?
People didn’t just randomly start flying. It was absurd. Something out of the comic books that Peter used to read (and he did too, but not any more), not something that normal people had to worry about. Not something that happened in real life.
Still… he should have worn his seatbelt.
He would have been able to keep control of the car. He wouldn’t have gone flying out like he did. (But how was he supposed to know? How was he supposed to know that someone would try and run him off the road? How was he supposed that he’d go flying off into the sky like that? He couldn’t have!) And now his wife was critically injured. In surgery. They wouldn’t tell him more. He just had to wait. Wait and see.
Still… he should have worn his seatbelt.
