Hey, have you used that photo of my rat yet? I keep checking the sporkings page to see if it's there, but it never is.

I went through that and mentally headdesked. I realize now what Paolini's writing reminds me of: Anime dubbed in English. How the English voices need to fill the mouths with too many unnecessary words to keep up with the characters' speech.
Example:

"Comforted, Eragon gazed into the void between the stars and slowed his breathing as he drifted into the trance that had replaced sleep for him. He remained conscious of his surroundings, but against the backdrop of the white constellations, the figures of his waking dream strode forth and performed confused and shadowy plays, as was their wont." (p. 35)

That's a mouthful to just say something like, "He went into a trance and dreamed."

I flicked through it in the bookshop today and picked up the gist of it.

Writ short: prose is no better, dialogue still awful, no Galbatorix, I predicted every plot-point ahead of time down to the last detail. If anyone wants me to I'll write a quick list of the important spoilers. They don't really count as spoilers, though; everyone already figured it out.
