good news, bad news
Oct. 30th, 2007 08:41 amDad's home! YAY! =D He's doing better and we're trying to keep liquids in him. He was chatting with the parakeet last night who chatted right back in little bird babble. They're so cute because my dad always acts like he doesn't like animals, except when your back is turned. ^_^
And now Well fuck. Brick three is coming out a year from now and ... there's going to be a brick four. He's turning into a regular Robert Jordan here.
As the press release says:
I dunno if this is a good or bad thing. I mean this whole "True to my characters" shit is so... laughable. Because you know, this would require him to actually have characters instead of NPCs that fawn over the Gary Stu.
So, make of that what you will.

As the press release says:
“I plotted out the Inheritance series as a trilogy nine years ago, when I was fifteen. At that time, I never imagined I’d write all three books, much less that they would be published” said Paolini. “When I finally delved into Book Three, it soon became obvious that the remainder of the story was far too big to fit in one volume. Having spent so long thinking about the series as a trilogy, it was difficult for me to realize that, in order to be true to my characters and to address all of the plot points and unanswered questions Eragon and Eldest raised, I needed to split the end of the series into two books.”
I dunno if this is a good or bad thing. I mean this whole "True to my characters" shit is so... laughable. Because you know, this would require him to actually have characters instead of NPCs that fawn over the Gary Stu.

Date: 2007-10-30 06:00 pm (UTC)Sounds like Beeblebrain and my father. He used to cuddle on my mother's shoulder and nuzzle her neck, too.
He was extremely intelligent, and he picked up on things very quickly. I know that my parents didn't have any worries about saying "shit" and "fuck" and "damn" in the house as long as I knew I couldn't say those words (I was a very good child), and they had friends over a lot who loved good conversation. Beeblebrain probably picked everything up by listening intently. I know he learned to laugh after watching those get-togethers.
However, his favorite things to say were words my dad taught him: "Ciao, bambino" and "Pretty baby, gimme a big kiss" followed by a kissing sound.
He died accidentally while chasing 6-year-old me through the apartment. I slammed my bedroom door and he slammed into it. I was so devastated that my parents buried him in the apartment building's backyard and held a funeral.
We got two more budgies after that, but Beeblebrain was unique. He was no parrot like Pepper, but he was in a class like himself.
