So. My parents, once again, have set out ads for roommates. And once again we got a reply.

The person was practically gushing

Hello! My name is Catherine. I am so excited to have
stumbled across your post amidst all of these
listings!

I currently work with a company called Cognition
Builders. I am a junior therapist that works directly
underneath Dr. Ilana Kukoff, Clinical Psychologist
(Please feel free to google her). She is a wonderful
woman that has taught me so much and I'm so happy to
be a part of her company.

I am currently shadowing a 6-year old girl at
Maimonides Academy in Beverly Hills and spending
afternoons at home with her working on educational
intervention and just some natural behavioral "isms"
that are keeping her from having a pleasant life both
academically and socially. Our company works with
children of all different ages and diagnosis.

I will be returning to school as well over the summer,
so I will be in school part time and working part
time. All in the general vicinity of where your
location is, therefore making it very easy for me to
be readily available for any trouble that may arise.

I'm 25, a hardworker, very loving, quiet, neat,
non-smoker, no alcohol, and am more than happy to keep
a veggie kitchen...all though I'm just learning (At
Maimonides Academy) what it is to keep Kosher....but
happy to learn and very open-minded.

I hope that this sounds like a good fit, and that your
search is going well. Please give me a call on my
cell phone as soon as you see fit as I am trying to
secure a new home asap. Thank you for your kind
posting and for such a great opportunity.

About how wonderful this opportunity was. We made plans to meet her. To show her the apartment. She as very gushy.

She calls up today and says "I've found another place to live."

I am cursed.

Ah geez, I'm sorry to hear about that. Don't you just love it when people get your hopes up, and you're so excited about something like that, only to change their mind last minute?

And by "love", I actually mean just "really, really hate". Fickle people really piss me off.

I thought you lived in a house?

I'm trying to move out of my parent's house.

Ah, I see. So, looking for a roomie for you, then. Now that last line of your post makes much more sense. ^_^

Yes. Roomie for me. Which doesn't seem to be materializing.

Best movie EVER.

I just wish I knew how to spell their name. Kurokudomo? I think they may be called Kurokudomo.

Have you seen Princess Mononoke, Kips? Actually, I can't remember you ever mentioning your opinion on anime of any sort. Not that Miyazaki films are just for anime fans, but...

I have seen Princess Mononoke. I must admit my exposure to Anime has been rather limited. I like it, what I've seen, and I do read it in the book store, but it's never really caught on for me. I don't have the rabid fan girl tendencies about it. It's nice when I read it, but it hasn't caught my imagination like other people.

Though I do admit to having been a Robotech fan when it was on tv in the eighties.

On the bright side, at least you won't have to hear any more gushing.

This is true. But I think I'd like to deal with the gushing if it meant getting out of the house.

Stupidity: you can't live with it, but apparently can't live without it either. I usually lose my temper in situations like that. As in, hunt them down and make them beg for mercy!...Did I say that out loud?

If it's any consolation, someone that gushy probably would've gotten on your nerves anyway. Have faith in karma and keep searching; surprisingly, there ARE sane people out there who will take up your offer :)

Oh, and I forgot to mention something...is it just me, or does the comment 'I am currently shadowing a 6-year old girl' strike you as odd? O.o

I thought that was odd too. Is she perhaps a roomie who specializes in rooming with unconventional people?

In the context it sounds like she's providing therapy or the reverse of an understudy or something.

Still, word choice makes me do a doubletake...

Shadowing is Shrink Speak for following a disabled child during their time in the classroom and giving assistance when needed. It's like being an aid.

I couldn't live with a roommate. I need lots of alone time to recharge. Being around people all the time stresses me out.
