I had an interesting day todayt, for starters I got my first rejection letter, from Image Comics.

I am sorry, but we do not hire freelancers (that is, artists, writers, colorists, letterers) and hook them up with one another.

We only accept creator owned/creator generated projects. That is, the projects have to come to us COMPLETELY inked and lettered.

For proposal guidelines, please go to the FAQ's page at

www.imagecomics.com

Due to the excessive amount of solicitations we receive we are unable to either return or to critique unsolicited material. Thank you for understanding.

Best,

Now the question is, should I send a letter back thanking him for his time and asking him if he would be interested in publishing a Pictoral novel (I.E. my thesis, which I haven't been working on, bad me)

I also took a Quiz today:

Congratulations! You're Merry!

Which Lord of the Rings character and personality problem are you?

Rather like the results. Fun and bloody.

Finally during dinner my parents made sexual innuendos at each other using the gym and my mother wanting to learn how to use the bike equipment.

My parents are scary.

Aren't they?

My suggestion (for whatever that's worth) is this: Feel free to send them a final, inked-and-lettered version of your thesis, in whatever format one's supposed to put these things in (but not the original artwork, of course). You can look at the guidelines online for formatting info, etc. Those same guidelines should also tell you if they prefer queries or complete works. (If they don't, it's fair to send a polite note asking what they prefer.)

It's probably not necessary to thank him for his time. He sent you a form letter, so he didn't spend much time on it by definition. (In fact, odds are, he never saw the article in question, if they have readers. Things that come into a publisher that are formatwise or contentwise something other than whatever it is they publish never get past first readers.)
