Nov. 22nd, 2011 09:41 pmAnne McCaffery died.
This is really sad for me. I got my first Anne McCaffery book when I was thirteen, for my Bat Mitzvah from my aunt. It was Dragon's Dawn. I read that poor book so much that the cover's practically fallen off. From there I went to the rest of the series and pretty much bought every book in the Dragon Riders of Pern series until her son started helping her write them.
The book really made me want to write. I mean really want to write. My first fan fiction was Dragon Riders of Pern. It's written down somewhere on notebook paper in my room back at my parent's house. But I never really stopped from there.
Which may or may not be a good thing.
I met Anne McCaffery in 2006 at the Los Angeles WorldCon. Got a nice copy of Dragons Dawn signed by her instead of my beat up one. It was one of the best days I've had.
Yeah. I don't know what else to say.
