Well.

The damnedest thing happened and I feel a bit embarrassed about it too.

I've got nothing to say about Maximum Ride. All I've been doing lately is summarizing what's been happening. There's nothing to look at. There's nothing there. I have absolutely nothing to say about this book any more.

It's so ... uninteresting from a writing perspective that it's just words on paper. My cat could come up with something better for me to look at trying to bite my hand while I'm typing. I mean it's worse than uninteresting. It's bland, lifeless, it's empty. There's no effort here.

There's no love.

That's what it is.

There's no love here. The writing feels like no one cared.

Considering the rumors I've heard that there's ghost writing involved, this makes sense.

I can't analyze what's not there and I feel like I'm harping on the same things over and over again. Nothing happens. Nothing changes. And the wings piss me off. There's no new revelations with each turn of the page. No strange and weird fuck-ups or plot holes or twisting the rules of magic on the head or contradictions.

There might as well not be any words on the page. They have the same effect on me. Actually blank pages would be more interesting. I could doodle on them.





On an Egg related note, DragonCave is supposed to be getting a bunch of new features next week including teleport. I say this because some people on here are DC'vers and trades are FUN! :D

Then that's a good sign to move on to something fun and sporkable and not waste your time with this book.

From what I've seen, this is true of most of Patterson's work. He's just in it for the money now. Some of the things he's "co-written" are apparently good, but that's thanks to the co-writers.

Honestly, I found these books more painful to read than Eragon or Twilight, entirely because it was just so...boring. Bland. And pretty much everyother criticism you listed above. There's just a lack of soul to the story that makes you feel like you're losing your own, you know?

I'd advise you to move on to something better. The book just isn't worth it anymore if you can't get any enjoyment out of sporking it.

Maybe its time to do a sum-up post and move onto better (worse?) grounds.
Maybe you could do one of the Gor books?
I used to live with someone who loved them, collected everything he ever wrote.

I agree with everyone else and think Jessaj had a good idea. Do a final sum up post (if you've already finished the book) and move on. Unless of course this is the sum-up post, which wouldn't surprise me.

Also, YAY for finally getting new features soon! Especially teleport. I offer you anything of mine you might want in return, though I doubt I have anything you don't have. Sorry for all the unnamed at the top too. I used to name mine promptly but I've been very lazy the past few months. Work has been frazzling me and I've been playing a lot of Sims 3 as well.

Better read something else, then. Maybe this time you could read something you consider good, and write about what makes it good. It'd probably make you feel a lot happier, and then the positive energy would flow out to-

oh dear. All this therapy is starting to have an effect on my psyche.

But at least I passed all my uni classes. Now I have half a Master's degree! Go me!
