While working on the Fettered Phoenix novel tonight Word gave me a message saying that the document was too long and it can't give me the little red lines or green lines to indicate spelling and grammatical errors any more.

I believe the last time this happened to me was with my Thesis which clocks in around 95k total. I'm at about 65k now and aiming for about 95-100k. I ended up making a second document and adding a bunch of names to the dictionary. I'm guessing then that this is probably going to be the longest thing I've ever written. And it's taking me much less time to do it than my Thesis which took about four years. It's been about three months since I started the Fettered Phoenix. That's a lot faster, isn't it?

In the mean time... PICTURES:

Kitten on the shoulder

This was a kitten I discovered at the Brandeis Campus today. I went there for staff appreciation day and pulling into the parking lot I heard mewing noise in the ivy. There wasn't enough room in the ivy for it to be a peacock, so I thought it was a cat. Getting close to the ivy I heard rustling and this little thing tumbled out. Cue squeeing. I played with him until breakfast -they served us breakfast and lunch - and then I put him back where I found him. I believe his mommy came for him because after breakfast he wasn't there.

The day was actually pretty awesome. I got to go horseback riding and then on a hike. The day was beautiful. The landscape amazing. We got ambushed by horses on the hike. See, there's over three thousand acres, I think, of land in the institute. They have horses for the summer camp and other programs but during the winter they just let them out into the hills to pasture. So, we're up hiking in those hills. Our guide waves his hand around and say something like "Oh yeah, they keep the horses out here during the winter and they'll be coming back down soon for the camp". We turn a corner in the trail through some thick brush and there are a half dozen horses. On the trail. They didn't move. Heh.

Best bit? I got paid. SO! I went on a lovely hike, played with kitten and went horseback riding for money. The only thing that I paid is that my body currently hates me.

Frogs in a pot

These are the origami frogs from the Passover Seder. I know, about a month late. They're in the soup pot we use to make chicken soup to be put away for next year. It was my idea to put them in there, because frog soup is funny.

Tiny Frog on a Penny

And this, as you can tell, is an origami frog on a penny. I was trying to see how small I could make it. I think that's about it.
