Well, figured out why I haven't been able to write much this week.

Yay migraine week.

I hate migraine week.

Still, I'm over 50k words in, so that's not so bad.

I had to take a sick day yesterday, my head was Just That Bad. I ended up 'archive' binging on My Little Pony the Magic of Friendship.

Good show. Watched seventeen episodes in one go. Unfortunately now all my characters in my head sound like one of the ponies. Because, you know what, right in the middle of a fight scene I need my characters to start sounding like cheerful little ponies.

They should sound at least like the Doctor. I could deal with the Doctor.

Speaking of the Doctor, I had a lovely dream that Matt Smith was here - at the university where I work - filming an episode of Dr.Who. He was awfully nice to me and we were chatting like best friends. We were discussing Spoilers[If you regenerate as a little girl do you come back as a little girl or can you be a different age. After all, the Doctor's age seems to fluctuate like mad.]

I'm actually amazed I got Maximum Ride done this week.

Did you see the original ponies? 'Cause that looked dreadful and I've never liked the character design either. This series seems pretty popular and I like the design, though. How do they compare?

Yes, I saw the original ponies. I have some of the original ponies. >__> I think I even dragged my parents to see the movie.

The old ponies was made to sell toys. Which it did. The stories were entertaining enough, though I don't really remember them. I just remember they held my attention.

The new one is quite good. There's snark and cultural references. The creator said she wanted to make it with the idea that parents could watch it with their girls - or kids. There's very little 'girly' stuff in it though. I believe there's one mention - so far - of one of the ponies mooning over a guy. They spend most of their time dealing with things like over-extending yourself and not asking friends for help or good sportsmanship or not getting your head to big for your wings. They all have a Lesson spelled out at the end but that, apparently, is the executive's fault.

Is there anything you would compare it to nowadays as being similar in style?

You mean similar in story telling style?

Kind of. Humor and such as well.

It's done by Lauren Faust, who also created Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends

Now that I've finally learned that no-one actually takes me seriously as a tough person, I'm going to admit this without any attempts at irony:
I watched My Little Pony as a kid, and I still have a bedspread with the ponies on it. I also used to have a collection of the toys. I wonder what happened to them all?

Also, I didn't know you got migraines. My supervisor at work gets them, and becomes unable to read or recognise peoples' faces. And then she has to call someone to pick her up, because she can't drive. It sounds awful.

As mentioned above, I used to watch the cartoon. Apparently lots of tough manly men watch the new cartoon, so you could watch that and still be Tough. XD

I do get them and without the medications they can last a long while. This one is not so bad, I should hopefully be able to restart writing soon, though I may have to re-write the entire section I started when this started. Stuff I write under the influence of migraines is never that great. But then again, things done under pain rarely are.

Usually I just can't concentrate long enough to put things together or deal with people. They're not fun.

That's as maybe, but I'll never be tough. I used to figure that since I write such dark, cruel stories that would make people think I was all tough and mean and Gothy and stuff. But it turns out nothing can get past my inherent cuddliness. I'm just a big ole human teddy bear when all's said and done.

Also, hearing about your pain and suffering makes me go :(

Awww.

You just have deep and horrible angst inside of you.

Yeah, maybe having an outlet for it leaves nothing but adorable harmlessness behind. Or something.

I think if characters started sounding like Pinkie-Pie in the middle of a fight scene, it could be kind of awesome.

It could be, but it ruins the flow of the action.
