Haven't done one of these in a while.

What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Neutral. Not Northern, Southern, or Western, just American. Your national American identity is more important to you than your local identity, because you don't really have a local identity to begin with.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

I think this speaks to my "wandering" and "adaptable" accent. If I'm in a place for a few days or I'm hanging out with someone with a different accent I'll pick it up. Which is probably why people in Halifax thought I was from Prince Edward's Island, since we stayed about a week there. Or it's because I live in Los Angeles and it's such a mixing pot everything is there.

Apparently my accent is New York.

Not sure if that's because I do share some kind of linguistic quirk, or if there's simply no 'Non-American' option.

Well yeah, but I expected to get the neutral answer, if anything. Now I'm wondering what part of my speech resembles that of Nu Yok...

Let's see... Mom's from the South, Dad was a Yankee (from New York, even) and I was born in Hawaii and grew up all over the place. Yeah, I don't really have a local identity.

I got neutral which I'm not surprised by, considering I've been told several times that I have a neutral accent. Funny thing is, I've lived pretty much in the South all my life. I guess living in two of the major cities in the state make a difference. I think like you I also tend to adapt a bit to speech patterns around me. XD

Apparently I'm from New York. Weird; everyone else says I'm British. Other than those Canadians who told me my Australian accent was quite broad.
