Lately I've been feeling really out of it, lethargic, dull witted and just bleh. I couldn't figure out why.

But today, I think I've figured out the reason.

Outside my bedroom window is a walkway that the people from the front apartments use to get to the alley way in back for throwing out the trash. It's got an over hang and fairly hidden. I'm up on the second story.

Anyway, lately I've been hearing people with their dog in that walk way area. I've been thinking they've been using it for a dog run. Not allowed according to the rules, but what have you.

Today I was looking down and saw that they may be passing around a joint.

I've been getting second hand pot fumes.

Unless the weed is really grade-AAA and the drafts are wafting them directly into your room, it's unlikely that's the case. I've been at parties where people were toking pretty liberally on a semi-enclosed patio, and I didn't feel a thing. You really have to hotbox someone before getting a contact high from marijuana. Can you smell pot smoke? If you can't actually smell it (a sweet grass kind of smell), you're definitely not getting enough inhaled to affect you.

I can smell something. And I tend to get easily effected by mind altering fun stuff. I know this from various tries at medications and things. Benadryl's always been fun. Knocks me right out.

But, I don't know. It's a supposition on my end.

Does this only happen when you're at home with your window open? If it persists throughout the day, when you're nowhere near your room, it's likely something else.

Getting a "contact high" from cannibis is nearly impossible. THC is a very light compound and remains in the air for less than 0.002 seconds. A "contact high" has never shown up on a urinalysis. Unless you are in an enclosed environment, like a car with all the windows shut (ie. "hotboxing") the chances of you absorbing even a fraction of THC is virtually nil. The notion that you are getting high from the smoke of a single joint, travelling two stories up and in through an open window is (politely) absurd. However, the concept of a "contact high" refers mainly to the placebo effect proximate drug use has. Studies have documented that those around drug use will subconciously act high. In other words, your lethargy is either attributable to another cause, or you are experiencing a "placebo effect." If you need to convince yourself: if you are indeed getting as high and lethargic as you describe, it would show up on a urinalysis. Marijaunna drug testing kits are available for sale at most drug stores - buy one and try it out.

It sucks when people disobey the rules.
