People came over last night to play Wraith, which is a nWoD oWoD game where you play a ghost. I only sat and listened for it was not a game that interested me. You die and then it gets worse, is how it was described to me. I didn't think much of that because there are plenty of "you die and it gets worse" sort of described games out there. Then listening I discovered that one of the character attributes is "angst". Yes. Characters get angsty which is a bad thing.

Where upon it hit me, nWoD is really high school.

Vampire = Goths
Wraith = Emo
Werewolf = Jocks
Changling = stoners
Mage = Nerds/book geeks
Hunters = wannabes.

It explains so much.

I'm at work a half hour earlier than normal as my schedule changed, Shut up. It makes sense to me.

It's actually oWoD :)

The nWoD ghost game is called Geist, and is not as good.

Besides, it still stands.

Oh, shush, you infidel. :P I love Wraith. It's a wonderfully surreal game which throws very ordinary characters into a completely bizarre situation and sees what happens. And while it's introspective, it's not inherently angsty - in fact, you can play it in a way that's very hopeful and life-affirming. :)

Though I admit that if someone had pitched it to me as "you die, and then it gets worse," I might have had some doubts, too. It's not an especially accurate description, anyway - it's more like, "you die, and it turns out that the afterlife is very much like life, only even more so."
