Sep. 2nd, 2004 01:53 pmAn Alec drabble
In the shadow of one the large wagons, Alec coiled up a length of rope as he watched his grandfather talking to one of the guards from the city. They had just returned “home” after two years traveling through the wilds and civilizations that lived beyond the Dragonridge Mountains. Those two years were the longest Alec and his siblings had ever been away from the city. Their grandfather had swept into the city two years ago and swept them away from everything they knew. It had been different at first, but Alec had grown to like it. And now he was back home. But it didn’t really feel like home, not anymore. As he finished coiling the rope his grandfather came striding back towards him. Ocelot was well into his seventies, but still full of vitality and strength. His light blond hair had turned white years ago but his dark gray eyes were still the same sharp as flaked stone they always had been.
“Done there little bird?” he asked crouching next to Alec who was seated on the ground. Alec nodded. Though he didn’t like his grandfather’s nickname for him, he had grown used to it over the two years and didn’t make a face anymore when he was called by it. “Excellent. Apparently there’s a new Oracle in the temple. I want you to take the gifts down there. Go get cleaned up and talked to your grandmother. She’ll give them to you.”
“Yes sir,” Alec said setting down the rope next to the others he had coiled. Ocelot smiled and ruffled his hair before standing up and walking off. With a sigh, Alec got up as well and headed over to his grandparents wagon.

The line to see the Oracle was rather shorter than Alec remembered as he stood waiting in his good clothes, tightly holding a wooden box with the gifts for the Oracle. Perhaps, he thought as he scratched under the collar of the starched shirt, no one was interested in seeing the new one. The few times he had seen the old one he had always enjoyed the visit. There was a sadness about her, he recalled. When he asked her about it once, she had laughed and said that it just came with the job. She had also given him a sweet and spent an hour talking to his mother afterwards.
One of the priests came out of the temple and shuffled down the steps, stopping in front of him. Alec looked surprised as the man looked him over. “Alexander Troven?” the priest asked.
“Yes?” Alec said slowly.
“The Oracle wishes to see you right away.”
Alec’s eyes widened, but he nodded and followed. They walked up the stone steps that seemed to flow from the building and into the cool inner chambers of the temple. They passed the waiting room and then the antechamber going directly into the Oracle’s main room where guests were received to speak and get their readings. The priest announced Alec and then left him alone. The room was moderately lit with torches strategically placed to give off light while creating some shadows in the darker corners. It was different than Alec remembered. He remembered a well-lit room with cats crawling around the place, rubbing up against petitioner’s legs. There was one cat, a calico with a dark patch on its face that always insisted on being held by him. This room was starker and a bit creepier.
“Well, well, well, who do we have here?” a male’s voice sounded out, echoing around the chamber. Alec stiffened. He recognized the voice. It was one he hadn’t heard in two years. One he didn’t expect to hear in the Temple but out in the streets. A boy about his age came striding out, arms wide. He was a large and burly with thick muscles and a square head. Wavey brown hair framed his face and green eyes sparked of hidden intent. He had at least six inches on the short Alec and at least a good fifty pounds as well as more strength than Alec could every hope to have. “Alec, look at you, tanned healthy… you’ve grown,” the Oracle frowned a bit. “Not much though. Still look as skinny as ever.”
Alec couldn’t say anything; he just clutched the box he was holding as if it were a lifeline. The Oracle was his rival. His childhood rival, the guy he used to have to play with but they always ended up fighting. And not only that, he was happy?! to see him. “Hello Jono,” he said softly, the words seeming to come from somewhere other than himself.
Clutching him in a tight hug, Jono said, “Hello back to you, love.” As he finished the sentence Alec felt something in his mind: a force pushing right past his shoddy mental walls and enveloping his mind, smothering it in a heavy darkness.
When he was next aware, Alec found himself in a bed, strange arms around his waist and an ache all over his body, from his head to his toes. He didn’t know how he got there. The room however was stained with lust and sex. He could sense it radiating off the walls and bed. It was Jono’s and… his? He had sex with Jono? He didn’t remember having sex with Jono. What had happened?
At that thought Jono stirred. He lifted himself up to look down at Alec. “That was fun love. Wasn’t it?”
“What happened?” Alec asked. Jono nuzzled him in the back of the neck, pressing a kiss and a nip to the skin. Alec shivered at the touches.
“Just a welcome home present. But you should go. Your grandfather’s worried about you.” He pushed Alec out of the bed, almost sending him to the floor. Clothes were scattered all over the place. Obviously something had happened… he just couldn’t remember what. Under Jono’s gaze…lust pouring off of it, making him feel ashamed to be there, he dressed. As he headed for the door, Jono said, “I’ll send for you later, alright?”
Almost against his will, he was fairly certain it was against his will, Alec said, “Okay.”
