Good News!
Aug. 24th, 2004 08:13 pmFirst of all, I don't have West Nile Virus. I have Tennis Elbow.
How are these two related? Let me explain.
We went on vacation to Nova Scotia, Prince Edwards Island and part of New England.
First of all my brother . I swear he does. He had a large rolling suitcase and he fills it up to the brim. It's litteraly bursting. Plus he has a smaller carry on bag and his backpack. All full of clothes. And he has outfits. One for the train, one for the plane, one for biking, one for after biking one for before biking... I swear we got the wrong genes. My parents and I took up two suitcases each slightly smaller than his.
We visited my mom's cousin Janice. Which was amsuing. For starters you people on the east coast need to learn how to do . Signs are a very good an happy thing. And at regular intervals on both sides of the street. Freeways or highways should have only one name. Not one name going north, one name going south and three names on one stretch of road. Also driving in the emergancy Break down lane is dumb. And dangerous. We learned that it's not Boston, but Bawston and it's not left or right but up or down the street.
After visiting my mom's cousin we went to an unveling for my dad's uncle. That was nice. We saw some of my dad's family and his pack of cusions. My dad's one of the favorites of the aunts. They call him Georgie. And when he was younger he was called poor Georgie. Apparently they felt sorry for him.
Then next day we went to Providence Rhode Island and rode the Acela train. We took a duck ride around Providence Rhode Island. There Friendship is a one way street and the ex-mayor (I think) has a best selling pasta sauce as well as being in jail.
Day after that we went to Block Island. That was fun. We went Bike riding saw lots of pretty things. I lost my favorite overshirt thingy. Which was sad. But I got a new pair of Sunglasses.
We then took a early morning flight to Halifax. We got an SUV because they didn't have any cars. This turned out to be a Good Thing. We went to Prince Edward's Island. And I learned that being a woman on vacation sucks majorly.
It had some good points like I didn't have to go biking for the first two days on PEI. There is something I don't get about my dad. I wanted to go Horseback riding and a couple of other things. He said I couldn't because we could do it in LA and because we could get hurt. The thing is, the same thing could be said about his biking. Eh... what ever.
So my mom and I did laundry while my brother and dad went off bike riding. On the way to the laundry mat we passed a Christian book store right next door to Naughty People Bookstore. We also visited a comic book store and saw the Monster Manuel 3rd edtion. Bought it. Sent it home. Still haven't recived it.
It was a good day. We decided to go to the Providence house then next day while my dad and brother went riding again. It started out good. It was a lovely place. And then as my mom was walking down the stairs, she missed a step. Fell down and twisted her ankle. We spent the rest of the day in the Hospital. She got a number four sprain. which is the worst you could get
My dad wasn't pleased. But he went out and got her crutches and then a wheel chair right away.
We saw some non-biking things the next day. Went to the college of piping. Bag piping that is. Which was really neat. We heard a concert and everything.
Next day we went bike riding, me my dad and my brother. That is where I got bit. Alot.
Nothing bad happened for another two days. I took some Benadyril which took care of most of the bug bites and we drove back to Halifax. Then the left arm swelled up, turned bright red and was burning hot. Like had a fever hot.
We saw a doctor. He said the bug bite got infected. He gave me large bitter tasting pills to take. I'm on my last one. That was on the fifteenth. The sixteenth was my birthday. So we went to the Cidatal on the Hill and then to a museum of Natural Histroy. For dinner we went to East Side Marios which is sort of chain Itallian resturant. I got a key chain for a gift there. On the way back to the motel we heard William Shatner singing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. That was scary. Terrifying. I never want to hear it again.
My arm was doing better and we went up to the bay of Fundy. That was the Kick assest part of the trip. We went Tidal Bore rafting. Basically we went out on a Zodiac with a guide to the place on the river where the ocean tide rushes in on this wall of water. It was great fun! We got completely soaked! My dad was actually laughing. He had a good time. Which is something that doesn't happen very often for him.
The trip sort of wound down after that, though my left arm continued to hurt, alot. We flew back into LAX but had to go through customs in Newark. I was glad then that my mom had her ankle sprained then because we had a secruity type person with a wheel chair just buzzed us right through. We barely made the plane in time.
Arriving at LAX we found out that we lost half our luggage. Actually it got on the wrong flight. Fourty five minutes later we got our luggage and got home. My fish were still alive.
My arm still hurt like a bitch. It is also tingly and felt asleep all the time. So we went to the doctor today. He said it wasn't West Nile. He also said that the reason why it was hurting so badly was because the infection inflamed the tendons bascially causing Tennis Elbow. I have to take two advil in the morning and two at night.
In other news I have to pick up my kitten tomorrow! Yay!!!
It also costs $5.95 to get from the Airport to Boston.
