What was that? Edward is not a stalker nor will he ever be. He realy cares
for Bella and isn't trying to play with her. Why would Bella ask him to drink
her blood? She wants to be a vampire not dead.
Mah reply:
I'm afraid we do have a bit of a differing opinion on the matter of Edward and his stalkering. I believe that he is a stalker because he exhibits all the signs of the classical stalker. Also "loving" and "caring" about someone is one of the reasons why a person stalks another.
If you note, it takes place before Bella knows how Meyers Vampires are made, so it's a logical assumption that she would ask for him to take her blood.
Finally vampires = dead.

Date: 2009-03-20 05:41 pm (UTC)Unless you're a White Court vampire in The Dresden Files, remember. They're born, not made.
But yeah, in most cases, "vampire" equals "supernaturally re-animated corpse."

"You mean infected?"
"Infected. Half-turned. Half-human. Half-dead. There are a lot of ways to say it."
If a half-turned Red Court vampire gives one of the names for her condition as half-dead--well, Red Courts aren't the dried up re-animated corpses that Black Courts are. But apparently they aren't alive as humans are either.
So "horribly mutated giant hairless bat-things that wear fleshmasks to pass as human but aren't exactly alive as we know it" is probably the closest description of the Red Court. In any case, they're in a limbo between the Black Court and the "born alive and human, change into incubi and succubi later" White Court.

Date: 2009-03-21 12:15 am (UTC)Anyway, that's just splitting hairs on my part. Kippur, please, please, PLEASE spork the rest of the series, or at least Breaking Fail. I want to read you ripping it a new one SO BAD.
*Meyer said (http://www.twilightlexicon.com/?p=60): "They sparkle because they have turned to substance that is somewhat like diamond. Their bodies have hardened, frozen into a kind of living stone. Each little cell in their skin has become a separate facet that reflects the light. These facets have a prism-like quality; they throw rainbows as they glitter." (emphasis mine)

Date: 2009-03-21 07:25 am (UTC)And does Meyer realize how unspeakably dumb that sounds? Especially since such a creature, even if it could exist, would be constantly having slapstick misadventures due to, say, a chair not being strong enough to support its butt.

Date: 2009-03-23 04:23 pm (UTC)Mmm... stone vampires?
Date: 2009-03-21 09:56 am (UTC)First of all, does anyone know if it's canonical that vampires are living stones or similar?
Second: if not, then hear this. There is a novel by Tim Powers (I don't remember the title, going to search) in wich a weird mix of vampires and lamias suck the blood of etc. etc.
And the lamia-vampire IS A STONE.
Tell me, how do you call this?
Re: Mmm... stone vampires?
Date: 2009-03-21 07:54 pm (UTC)And possibly plagiarism? The thing is though that Meyer said she never read any Vampire books. She prides herself on it.

This is very interesting though. I think you could be onto something. The book looks to be out of print but Amazon has
lots of copies under various sellers. The only question is did she read it? I think it's very possible but I couldn't say for sure without having read his book as well.
