I just love the fact that he's telling me to go back to English class to learn grammar and punctuation correctly, when he doesn't seem to have a handle on it himself. And he uses netspeak! *shudders*

Could anyone please give me a good transalation of "Bais Yakkov" and why would he be applying it to me?

This is getting pretty sad.

This guy e-mailed me as well, thinking that I'm you. Was kinda rude too. Oh well...

Anyway, "Bais Yakkov" (actually "Bais Ya'akov", which is the ashkenazi pronounciation, "Beit Ya'akov" if you're sephardic, if you want to nitpick), literally translated, means "house of Jacob". Could mean one of two things. Jacob (in the Torah) had 2 names, the other being Israel, which means "the Lord's grappler/wrestler" (no I'm not making this up). He was given this name when he wrestled the angel to a stalemate. It was almost the Sabbath, and Jacob wouldn't release the angel, so the angel promised Jacob that if Jacob let him go (so that he could return to heaven before the Sabbath began), he would givew Jacob his name in return (at that time a great honour, names had power then). So it could mean that what he's saying is that someone of the House of Jacob/Israel - a nice Jewish girl basically. Kinda patronizing really.

The other possibility (and I think more likely, because of the reference to going back to school) is that he's refering to a chain of all-girls orthodox hebrew schools that are all over Canada and the U.S., called "Bais Ya'akov". So it could be that he's telling you to go back to school, and this time go to a "good" school so that you'll learn how to be a nice, Jewish girl.

So basically the guy's being a jerk. Sad really, but there are jerks and fanatics in every religion. That's life.

Seems to me this guy is just trying to rile you up, or something. We shall just laugh and point at him for being a total dork. Or putz, to keep it in the Jewish colliquialism.

And why shouldn't you paste a fic about a Jewish person where everyone can read it. Sheesh.
