Rating I'm gonna go with R for well, creepy material/subject matter.
Summary Edward is a stalker.

Sometimes, Edward reflected, it was too easy. Sitting in the rocking chair, watching Bella sleep he restrained a chuckle. When he first saw Bella that day in school oh so short but long time ago, he knew he found the perfect toy. He could read her anxiety as easily as he could read a textbook. He could read her mind even, but he knew her desire to feel special and decided to pretend like he couldn't.

He easily remembered the argument with Emmett and Jasper as to who would get to play with her. Edward won claiming his privilege as the oldest. And then he began. After a hundred odd years he'd become quite good at acting.

First he pretended to not like her. To be angry and distant. Trying to gain an air of mystery. He used her shyness and lust against his looks to open her mind up to finding him fascinating. Desirable.

And then he vanished. From school at least. He still watched her. Watched her fret and wonder if she caused him to vacate the school. Such a silly girl, to believe that she could be a cause of it, as opposed to him getting sick. Coincidences do happen, after all.

But he encouraged her belief.

Making her think constantly about him.

When he returned, he began to be erratic around her. Telling he liked her, but he could hurt her. That he was dangerous.

Girls liked dangerous men.

Humans liked forbidden fruit.

And confusion made them so much easier to manipulate.

Rescuing her from the crash clinched the matter in the girl's mind. She belonged to him right then and there.

Constantly he tested her, tested her faith in him, her desire for him. And always she ignored the obvious danger signs and stayed with him.

Such a silly, foolish girl.

He came to her at night to watch her sleep. To touch her and make her dream of him. The warmth was quite nice.

Soon, oh so very soon, Edward knew, she would beg him to taste her. To take her blood.

And of course, he'd oblige her.

... yep, that sounds about right. Well done -- distinctly creepy. And much more consistent than the original.

^_^ Thanks.

Though... on an utterly side topic, do you think you could put Alec and Verra into any of your PPC histories? Which are utterly fantastic.

Um, sure? Maybe. I've checked Alec's missions, and I see that Verra, for sure, didn't join the PPC before the Movies, so obviously she can't be in either of the earlier ones. I'm not sure when Alec joined, so if you can fill me in on that... also, have they retired? I've sort of lost track. If not, they can make a few appearences in the latter chapters of Crashing Down (which is set around 2006...).

Alec joined at an indeterminate point before 2003. His original partner was Marc-C who before Verra joined up, vanished into the kitchens and wasn't seen for several years. General conses being she got turned into mystery meat. Turns out she got stuck in a plot hole.

Verra's retired, but Alec and Marc-C are still playing around. Alec enjoys it too much. He's sort of taken on the Gary Stus. I have an un-finished mission around here somewhere. >.> Also, I sort of consider the shorts where he kills canons ("accidentally") part of his PPC-duties.

'kay, so Alec can definitely be in Crashing Down... any idea /when/ Verra retired? CD is set in the summer of 2006, so it's somewhat on the borderline. Lofty Skies (still a long way from being written) is in 1992... could Alec and Marc-C have been working together for ten years by 2003, d'you reckon? If so, they could make an appearence way back then (before LotR was a major fandom... that'll be interesting to write).

Oh, I'm sure. They're department of Improbabilities and Gary Stus. There'd have been a lot in like the X-Men, Star Wars, and other Male Type Fandoms. Verra retired around 2006, I think.

In regards to writing the PPC before LotRs, it would be. The agents would actually be sane and unstressed. I think X-Men, Gargoyles, Star Wars, Star Trek and like Aladdin would be major fandoms around then.

That makes so much sense. And has me imagining a vampire mythology where one can only drink a human's blood if the victim consents to it.

What I find interesting is that the only thing you really had to add is the intention behind the mask. The manipulation, smoothness, and nastiness were already there. Meyer's characters really are not coming across the way she intended them to, are they?

(I got directed here by shiftercat for the Twilight snark. Which I've been enjoying.)
