...Hasn't LotR been on the bestsellers list forever?

Huh? Wait... WHAT?

This takes... not only never reading a book, in your entire life, but also being completely ignorant of the freaking marketing campaign of the movies as well.

I...

Can you have ever read a fantasy novel and not be aware that LotR influenced pretty much every fantasy novel in the market today?

And I'm going to pretend that by "the sequels have only been published recently" they mean either a) recently = past 100 years or b) sequels = Children of Hurin.

*le sigh*

I´ve seen this so many times before that I´m almost used to it. But it was usually about Harry Potter, and how Rowling was plagiarized by Tolkien and C.S. Lewis and Terry Prattchet and so on. But I have to admit that DB and OP is new. Heh.

The stupid here in the name of Dragon Ball makes Vegeta sad. *points to icon* That's just too stupid. D=

Of course GT also makes Vegeta sad but we'll ignore that little tidbit in the name of mocking forum stupidity. *realises she doesn't have any DB icons despite it being her first fandom and so cheaps out with a Saiyuki icon* Based off the same legend...

Gah. Now you've got me thinking up Frodo going super-sayan with the blond and the hair boner and... gah!

Alas, yes. I should have trusted my common sense.

Ahaha. I'd hit them with my second edition set, but that would hurt the books and be very sad for me.

So, I'm going to bet that this person is a weeaboo, being apparently the kind who is completely and entirely unfamiliar with non-Japanese pop culture (cartoons included *points to sig*).

I'm choosing to believe it's not real. That way, I don't have to weep for humanity.

This is sad because both sides are terribly wrong.

Dragonball is influenced by Journey to the West, a Chinese novel that predates Lord of the Rings by a few hundred years. Lord of the Rings is irrelevant. Dragonball and One Piece could definitely exist without it. Although it is quite sad to see someone truly believing that Dragonball is older than Lord of the Rings and that Lord of the Rings copy-pasted from Dungeons and Dragons, it should be noted that the whole conversation is, in essence, completely full of fail.
