You know you're autistic when...

Saturday, my mom, brother, and I went to the hardware store to pick up various hardware type things. As we were leaving I noticed that they had those machines with the eggs that you can get for a dollar. One of them had the Disney Princesses. As my mom collects Cinderella, I mentioned this to her and she got a dollar of change to try and get one. She got Snow White. I then noticed that they had a Ratatouille one with little things you can hang on your cellphone. I have a friend who's a big fan of the movie, so I got her one.

It was the brother, Émile. My brother sees this and wants to get one too. So, he goes off and gets change. He gets Auguste Gusteau. My mom then decides she wants one too, but one of the rodents. Eventually it gets a bit out of hand and we spend about six dollars on the machine, including going back after we got to the car twice. We got four rats: Two of Remy, one of Émile, and one of Django. Plus we got one of Auguste Gusteau and one of Alfredo Linguini. The three of us spent about a good half hour doing this.

It was the highlight of our day.

Which, I think, is very autistic because I don't think non-autistic people would get so crazy over egg machine toys.

This should be done in a Jeff Foxworthy type voice.

"If you spend six dollars at one of those little toy vending machines at the supermarket so you all have matching eggs . . . you might be austistic."

*sniggers* That's exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote this post.

Oh, I'm not so sure about that. Once a group of friends and I spent about an hour clustered around one of those Walmart claw machines. Of course, it was pouring outside, we didn't want to get wet, and we really had nothing better to do, so yeah.

Dude. My friend and I went to Pizza Hut once before she moved, and they had those sticker and temporary tattoo dispenser things. And we had moneys. And a wait for pizza.

WE GOT SO MANY STICKERS.

That sort of Thing is not an Autistic Thing, that's a Awesome Thing.

I dunno, it sounds fun to me. But then, I can amuse myself for long periods of time by examining the grain in wood (it looks really cool, and there are all these neat patterns...) and touching the corners of signs, soooo...I don't know if my opinion is a prime example of the norm. ^_^;;;

This is completely off-topic, but did you read Orson Scott Card Ender's books ? Because you just made me think about one of the heroines of the later books (I don't remember if she's already in the second book, but she's in the third for sure).

Several of them...I'm not really a Card fan (or much of a sci-fi fan in general). I read...erm...Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, I think I read Xeno-whatsits, can't quite remember the title, and Ender's Shadow. My brother was a big fan, so we had them around.

Haha, me and my friend love those things. We take a 30 minute bus ride out to a mall to get them all the time. We just go for Japanese themed things instead of Disney.

Nah, it's just a consumer thing. In fact, the reason they have those silly little things like that in the first place is specifically to lure people into compulsively buying them because oh look those are so cute I guess I can spare some change and hopefully get the one I want... and so on. XD

Say it with me.

Because, you know egg machine toys are a lot like Darfur.
