[Poll #1048454]

You may notice that I didn't put the Venom Cock book or the Lexicon Triumverate mostly because I'm getting these books through work and I think if they came through the library my bosses might have some issues that they need to bring up with me.

Yes. Well, I'm sure eventually we'll reach some sort of consensus.

Say it ain't so...

There's really a book called "Anne Frank and Me"? *shudders in terror*

Yes. Apparently a girl finds her self a Jew in WWII France and learns that yes the Holocaust really happened and has a life changing experience when meeting Anne Frank in a cattle car.

Yes. That's apparently what the book is about.

But... but... but...

Is this the kind of book with an Important Message that innocent children are made to read?

So many excellent choices, you have to eventually do them all!

But some are just too easy, like the left behind and Di Vinci code.

Beekeeper's Apprentice might be interesting though..such a hard choice.

From: [identity profile] kippurbird.livejournal.com
Perhaps. Perhaps. Eventually.

Eragon was an easy choice too.

THE "DA VINCI CODE"!

So... you want me to do the Da Vinci Code then?

"Venom Cock book"

That sounds familiar. . . Is that that really trippy book where the main character has sex with dragons?

"American Gods, by Neil Gaiman"

Really? I always heard he was a really great author.

Anyways. . . Good Lord, I don't know which one to choose. . . Anita Blake? But the Black Jewels is so tempting! And the Da Vinci Code?! You have made this incredibly hard on me. *torn*

From: [identity profile] kippurbird.livejournal.com
Yes, it is.

And, while I do enjoy American Gods, people have requested it, so it goes on the list.

Also you can chose more than one book. =D

Somebody, somewhere must spork that thing.

Oh dammit. I didn't see the Left Behind books until after I voted. Curses, they're all just too spork-worthy!

I voted for American Gods (which I thought was okay) and the Da Vanci Code (I scoffed all the way through) because those are the only two I've read-- though I have heard of the Left Behind Series, and I do think it would be amusing to see your take on that.

I think it would too, especially since I'm a nice Jewish Girl.

Voted for Da Vinci Code. I actually ENJOYED Eragon. The main thought I had through the Da Vinci Code is "Why is this so popular"? It didn't help that, the first time, I thought that it had a "This was all a dream" ending. *rolls eyes* It doesn't even make for a good mindless read. Too clunky and contrived.

>_> I notice that that's the one that's most popular in the poll right now...

Isn't it? It's like way ahead of the rest. I would have never thought that.

I"m voting for Beekeeper's Apprentice. While I did actually enjoy the book, I won't deny the the main character is a Mary Sue of the highest order.

I'm voting for five of them, and here's why ('cause you're not the only one who can list damnit):

1) American Gods: My favorite book ever, and I'm curios what you have to say about it.

2) Anita Blake: 'Cause for christs sake I'm sure it deserves it.

3) Anne Frank and me: ...seriously? That's... That's the name for the book? I need to know more... And not in that 'I'm gonna read it' kinda way, but in that 'please justify my unreasonable rage at it for me.'

4) Da Vinci Code: It'd be ironic to decode the book about decoding a ... code... painting... thing...

5) Left Behind series: I don't need to justify why.

Random stalker flyby comment and vote!

The DaVinci Code. Hated the book (I threw it into a corner after 30 or so pages, and I usually don't abuse books like that), and love your sporkings, so that would be a match made in hell *g*.

I voted for the Da Vinci Code because it was a terrible book. I also voted for American Gods because I liked it and thought it'd be fun to see a sporking of it.

And, uh, if you don't know me, that's because even though I've been following the sporkings for a while, I only recently got a livejournal.

Aw, American Gods won´t be so fun. It might be a little boring, in some parts, but it´s well-planned and Gaiman really writes, wo what´s the fun in that? Let´s take one we can tear to pieces. ^_^

I voted the Anne Frank, because a premisse like that worths a sporking on itself, and Da Vince. If it wins, get ready for a lot of pain... I tried to read Dan Brown´s Digital Fortress and coudn´t get past the first ten pages. It´s painful.

I voted for Da Vinci Code because, like Eragon, it's popular enough that you really have to know it. But, also like Eragon, I'll be damned if I'm going to read it myself.

Da Vinci Code, American Gods and, of course, Night of Power. Not any of the Left Behind books, though; making you read that would just be cruel. Observe.

Oops. Voted for three because I didn't read the instructions first. Ah, well.

I admit, the main reason I voted for DaVinci was because I'm interested in seeing how well it turns out. My dad, when he read it, said he couldn't decide whether he thought it was well-written or not. I am, therefore, somewhat wary of actually trying it myself so I should inflict it on you, yes?.

Voted for the Da Vinci Code and Left Behind. Because I think that those two would be most amusing, and I don't know most of the others. But you didn't put Twilight up there... cause I know somebody mentioned that. And... ugh... the relationships the author is trying to pass off as profound are just so... high school. And all my friends love the book, and keep trying to tell me how amazing it is...

And also you should do a... I don't know... critical overview of House of Leaves, or something. Simply because that book is just about the most amazing thing ever.

Oh, definitely go for The DaVinci Code. I was half-tempted to do a similar, er, "analysis" myself, but my mother's paperback copy has gone missing. I would greatly enjoy someone tearing apart his awful, awkward writing, his Gary Stu hero, the constant sidetracking into god knows what sort of trivia, the "subtle" characterisation, and god knows what eles I didn't encounter after I attempted to read the first 10 chapters.

If anyone is interested in the subject I recommend Truth and Fiction in The Da Vinci Code: A Historian Reveals What We Really Know about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Constantine by Bart D. Ehrman.

It really is a great book for people interested in the truth behind the fiction. Suffice it to say there isn't much of it...

I have an honest dislike of those books where someone goes back in time and gets close with Anne Frank. I'm sure there were much more interesting people hiding during the Holocaust.

I'm pretty sure. I think there were a few more that I had to read for Hebrew School that had that theme.

hi

I just checked the reviews on Amazon.con and all of them were four stars and upwards. Funny. I read the book and remember reading it at the bookshop adn thinking that the person whop wrote this had to be very daring to touch a subject like the Holocaust and turn it into a children's book.

It's A Very Important Book!

As with all Very Important Books there will be lots of deluded urchins well educated children who have just been brainwashed been shown how this is a good book! Therefore they want to show how they are the shameless kissups and english majors of tomorrow sensitive and intelligent children who can appreciate this.
