kippurbird: (Witic)
I gave Ferguson away today. He was my goldfish, I've had him for ten years. The thing was, he'd out grown his tank (five inches long!) and I don't have the room oar the money for a new one. I took him down to the aquarium store and said good bye. It's weird. I mean ten years with Fergi. He started out as a tiny ten cent feeder fish, smaller than my thumb and ended up as big as my hand.

He survived a lot too. I called him my Phoenix fish.

One time he looked like he was about to die, he was doing the sort of floating up to the top thing and his tail was all ratty. We had to go on vacation for two weeks and we figured we were going to come back to a dead fish. But, no. We came back home as he was perfectly healthy, if having shed most of his raggedy tail.

Another time I found him one morning laying on the floor and I thought he was dead. I don't know how long he was laying there. But in a weird autistic moment, I left him and went to ahve breakfast. He was dead, I thought, and I didn't want to touch him because he was a dead fish. I passed by about a half hour later and he'd moved! He was still alive! So I put him back into the tank and he was fine!

Amazing!

He also kills fish. I won a goldfish at a carnival and I put it into the tank with Fergi. Some time later, about a day, the second fish was gone. I got a catfish to help clean the tank, and about a month later there was half a catfish.

His is a great fish and I hope he finds a good home. I know he won't be known as Ferguson anymore, but still, I hope he lives a good ten years longer. ... actually apparently according to wikianswers they can live over 176 years and the world record is 44 years. So, theoretically, I could have had him for the rest of my life, and then some.
