These are fun. Really, they are.

This one is from a conversation I had with [livejournal.com profile] camwyn about John Constantine.

I love those.

If you look at the top ten at thefunniest.info, number one is a motivational poster about being unique. Quite amusing.

(And there's a joke involving Francis Bacon, which would make any website brilliant.)

*can pull off

For me, the most WTF role KR was ever cast in was Don John in Much Ado About Nothing. I mean, Shakespeare? Really? Plus, there was the added hilarity of one of his lines being, "I am not a man of many words." And of him being related to Denzel Washington.

DAMN. Can't I make one of these with out a typo? *grumbles*

He was in Shakespeare? Who would cast him in Shakespeare?

It seemed to work for him in the Shakespeare movie.

Yeah, but to be honest, I preferred the movie to the Constantine comic I read. "Damnation's Flame"... I mean, I expected Constantine to be a bastard, I'd read a little about him on Wikipedia and Toonopedia, but this one... was just weak and pathetic. I hated the ending. It was like they suddenly realised "Shit, we're almost out of pages. Let's do something quick and easy, and make it really, really messed up so nobody notices. Or we can just say we're being edgy and stuff."

The comics that the movie was based on was so much better.

Seriously. This one wasn't. I bought it because I saw the movie and I figured, hey, the source is usually better than the movie.

Instead, I have serious doubts I will ever buy another Constantine comic or trade paperback again.

Unless you mean the movie was based on a specific arc of the Constantine series?

It sort of was. There was a specific arc which the whole 'ascending to Heaven and flip the Devil off' scene was based off, but I'm not sure about the rest.

That arc was really, really good, though.

It was based on a specific arc in the comic book. And it was much different in the comic book than in the movie. Constantine tricks the three rulers of hell into fixing him from lung cancer and then gives them a big Fuck You. It's a good story. There's also a good one where he manages to corrupt Gabriel and cut his wings off.

The series has been going on for a long time and has been written by many different writers. Some of them suck ass and others are pure gold. The Earlier ones are apparently better than some of the later ones.

I didn't like Constantine, just because they threw in a very thinly veiled anti-smoking message that completely ruined it for me. It didn't need to be there, but god forbid there be a character who smokes and doesn't die because of it. WHich sucks, because it's the kind of movie I like.

Heh. Well, it was based on a story arc from the comic books (as mentioned above) and John was dying of lung cancer, which he wasn't really wanting to do. So he tricked the three lords of Hell to heal him. Which was really the point of the story, the trickery and not the lung cancer. But I'm assuming that it was different in the movie?

It was just that they made this big deal over the fact that he smoked, so it was his fault that he was dying. Whch didn't need to be there, but it was, just to keep anti-smoking groups happy. And it pissed me off.
By the way, how's Storm Front? After finishing it, and starting the second book in the series, I figure they're very . . . pulpy. Not to say crappy. And the writing style grates on me. So IMO, TV>Books. Those two in my icon are TV!Harry and Murphy, both of whom are much less annoying on the show.

Keanustine! *snorts*

For some reason, I keep thinking that you subconsciously picked that pixelly photo of Eragon just so we didn't have to look at his face properly. Congratulations. I salute you.
