Because of the presence of dragons on the world of Tynaria (Alec's world) livestock has evolved slightly differently than their counterparts on Earth. They're larger than their Terran counterparts and wilder. Bony plates and horns are more prevalent as well.

Horse from Alec's world

About twenty hands high, very good at pulling, running and riding. Excellent endurance. One large horn on the head with a smaller horn on the nose. Feathers are on on the feet. They are usually brown or bay with black rarely. They have lighter coloration on their hindquarters with spots. Grays and roans are not seen at all.

Interesting. Why are the cow and goat semi-armored when the horse and sheep are not? Also, is the sheep's muzzle meant to bend that way? The sheep is also the one with the least alteration, it seems like. Perhaps the difference in the horns could be emphasized more, somehow?

I really love the face of the cow. Its left eye looks a bit different from its right, but overall I think that the perspective on its face and chest came through the best. It also has the most weight and volume to it out of the four. The goat looks quite good too. It's second best in volume and the best one as far as proportions go, though the face seems a bit generic and flat. The sheep is sufficiently curly but the back leg might be too straight? I'm not certain.

I must say, I love the horse the most if only because I'm a huge fan of sturdy, dappled unicorns. So I really dig the general idea behind the design. I think it needs the most work though. The hindquarters seem too high and small to me, the dapple pattern looks a bit too rough, and the front leg that is lifted doesn't seem to be attached at the shoulder correctly. The rump and the upper part of the front leg seem too round as well. I'm not certain if those were intentional alterations or not. Overall, I recommend looking for some horse anatomy pictures. They shouldn't be too hard to find and they'll definitely improve the drawing. Was it drawn with or without a reference picture? :)

The sheep is armored, but the wool gets in the way. The horse doesn't have bony plates because it's an equine and not a ungulate. The angle is a bit funny on the sheep.

I based the drawings on actual photographs, so that could be why they're funny looking. That and I'm not that great with animal anatomy.

I always have trouble drawing horses. This is actually better than most of them.

*blinks* But an equine is an ungulate. The word ungulate simply means 'to have hooves.' Did you mean a perissodactyl? That's the word for an ungulate with an odd number of toes. (Goats, cows, and sheep would be artiodactyls, since they have an even number of toes.)

I do recommend looking up some anatomy photographs or books though. There tend to be a plethora of photos devoted to horses alone and the other three shouldn't be too hard to find either. You have an okay start. But knowing how their bodies fit together can't hurt. (If nothing else, I found it helpful to be able to correlate the different body parts to their human counterparts, as it helped me understand the poses better.) :)

Yes. That's what I meant. *nods* >.>

Oh yes, I have anatomy books. At least I think I do. Gaah... must go check now.

Sorry. Didn't mean to make you panic. Just trying to help. ^_^;

Incidentally, might be cool if the sheep had obvious armor. Perhaps the wool could grow around or sparsely from the plates? Maybe they would be less like plates in the sheep's case and more like rhino hide? Dunno, just pondering. I understand how the wool could cover it up but since it isn't apparent, it looks relatively normal. Perhaps the legs could become a more obviously armored area? Or only wool on the underside of its body and legs? Just some thoughts. :)

Hah. No worries.

Maybe I'll give the sheep spikes.

Yeah! Or horns all over... spirally horns coming out of the wool. Hee hee. I wouldn't envy anyone trying to shear it. Perhaps the wool is, in and of itself, a lot tougher and sturdier and sharper than our wool? Kind of like a tangle of brambles almost. So it's not good for regular clothing (unless softened up or something) but it could be useful as armor in its own right? WOOL ARMOR! Woot. XD

Well, the wool is tougher than our wool. It's part of the sheep's defense systems. It's very dense and sturdy.

Can't see the pictures, but...

Horned horse yay! =D

Your world's horses sound like (one of) my world's karkadanns. I would probably call them unicorns if that didn't bring up images of magic and healing and pretty sparkly fluffy niceness, because karkadanns are basically horses crossed with rhinos crossed with lions. *luffs them*
