Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Well it's less than a week until book six comes out. I've been reading the previous books as a refesher for the new one. As I've been reading these books I've been wondering who this Half Blood Prince could be. So I would like to offer you my supposings.

First off: We know that Harry Potter and Voldemort are not the prince.

Draco, any of the Weasleys or Neville will not be it. They're all full bloods. (Despite what some fan ficcers would like to say about Draco.) Nor will Sirius. He's dead. (Again, sorry fangirls.)

Hermione and Luna are, of course, out of the running by being girls.

Supposing that the Prince is not a new character I offer these choices: Hagrid, Dumbledore, Lupin and Godric Gryffindor.

Hagrid is half giant. We don't know that much about giant society or if they have any sort of royalty. It's highly unlikely though from what we've seen of their society.

Lupin is a werewolf. He's considered half human by Wizarding society. We haven't seen anything about their society, if they have any. It is fairly likely that they have some type of society, being part wolf and wolves are pack animals. But it is unlikely that they have a royalty.

We know little about Dumbledore or his history. He's over fifty years old. He has a brother but that's all we know about his family. He could be full blood or half blood or muggle born.

Then there's Godric Gryffindor. We know very little about him as well. He was a founder of Hogwarts and had big disagreements about what sort of students to be let in to the school. Sylthrin was for pure bloods only. Gryffindor was not. It could be that Gryffindor was a prince, he lived over a thousand years ago and there were princes back then.


Those are my four canidates. I'll have to see if they're right or not. Another potential person is Krum, but I think they would have mentioned him being a prince.

There's also Dean Thomas. On a bit on JKR's site, she goes into his backstory. His father was a wizard, but kept it a secret from his muggle mother. Then he was killed by Death Eaters, because they wanted him to join them and he refused. So he died without Dean's motehr ever knowing what he really was, and then Dean thought he was muggleborn. But really he's a half-blood.

Then, of course, there's Seamus.

But the thought of either one of them being some sort of prince frightens me.
