Okay so I'm walking to the Library at Pierce and I see a sign that says "Love Jesus? Come sing worship and discuss Him!" And I started thinking about what they would discuss about Jesus. Because from what I know about Christianity you aren't supposed to discuss things. You're supposed to take them on faith. (As opposed to Judaism where everything is up for interpitation) So, if you can't discuss that what would you discuss? And then I had a flash back to those New Kids on the Block comercials with the girls who were trying to prove they were the band's biggest fans by how much New Kid's stuff they had bought and it combined with these people sitting in a circle declaring how they were Jesus' biggests fans because of stuff they did. A very O_o moment.

I mentioned this thought to my mom. And we started discussing the difference between Judaism and Christianity. One of the things that is a biggie is that Judaism doesn't have an all forgiving G-D. If you screw up, He can get very upset. It gives reason not to mess up. Unlike in Christianity where if you do something bad it's okay because you'll be forgiven. It doesn't really give much reason to do good things, if you're going to be forgiven for anything you do.

But that's just my point of view.

I'm going to a Mother Daughter weekend this weekend. Hopefully it won't turn into a get in touch with your feminane side and a squishy lovey spiritual stuff. I really don't like that sort of thing. I like a good textual arguement trying to figure out what it means, but not the spiritual stuff. In any case, if it does get like that I'll just go for a long walk and get in touch with nature. It's at the Brandies Bardine institute in Simi Valley, beautiful place.

Should be fun.

Well, if you do bad things, you make the baby Jesus cry. That's incentive, I guess.

*shrug*

What I was taught was that Jesus's sacrifice only goes so far. That you're supposed to repent, and if you're a repeat offender, obviously you're not really repenting. Plus, me mum taught me loads of stuff from Jesus' teachings about loving thy neighbor and charity and stuff.

But really, it depends on what denomination and particular church you belong to. There are a million views to the whole issue.
