A terrible thing happened..

So, the guy in the apartment below me died. I found out about it on Monday. He died in the apartment from a seizure. He'd had a bad one about two years ago. They had to break into his apartment and they found him laying on the floor and he had been for about two days. After that he was hospitalized for several months. They only realized something was wrong when the brother came over to visit and couldn't get in contact with him. I don't know how long he'd been there this time.

The guy was probably on the autism spectrum. Sort of pinged that way. He lived alone and obviously wasn't checked on that often. Before the first bad seizure his apartment was a wreck, filled with tons and tons of manila envelopes piled up on everything, newspapers things like that. I could see it through his window when I walked by. After, they cleaned it all up, but they still didn't pay much attention, I guess.

Now he's dead. Personally, I think after the first bad seizure they should have taken better care of him. He did need someone to look after him. His hygiene wasn't that great etc. I'm sure that's not the most PC thing of me to have said, but maybe it could have saved his life.

I don't know.

I don't know much about seizures... but maybe it's just wistful thinking on my part.

Also, part of it is that it kind of reminds me of how my grandma died. She fell out of bed an her colon ruptured. No one knew for three days and only because of a neighbor did anyone find out. They took her to the hospital where she died a couple of days later. She probably could have been saved if someone found her earlier. But she was very big on being Independent and so refused any help that might take it away. I didn't have the best relationship with my grandma, she was a hard woman to get along with, but I did love her and it was a horrid way to go. (Is there a good way to go?) It's been about ten years since she died... wow.

On the other side of things, my roommate thinks the apartment under us is now haunted.
