I am certified insane
Dec. 2nd, 2003 03:42 pmToday has been a strange day.
Most strangely was the fact that I just put a short fan-fic into my term paper for class. It's a paper on Mary Sues. I tried to put a 19th century Sue into Middle Earth to see what would happen. She ended up getting shot. This was only because I couldn't write Lord Elrond out of character.
Here's the story:
Capitola in Middle Earth.
It began easily enough. Capitola on her pony Gyp were riding out on her Uncle’s property when she found a path that looked well over grown and long unused. Being her usual self Capitola directed her pony to go down the path to see what was down the way. She had no fear of Old Hurricane’s wrath because she knew that this path was down on his property well with in the boundaries of Hurricane Hall.
At first the path was full of brambles and hard to push through branches, but Capitola persevered and soon the pathway cleared. She began to wonder if it was another way to that crazy old witch. But then she noticed that the trees didn’t look like the rest of those in the valley. They seemed to be more alive, more real than anything she had seen before. Everything around her seemed to exuded peace and reality.
“Demmy Gyp…” she said in a quiet breath, for once in her life feeling subdued. The path eventually broke out into a large clearing. There in the center was a group of people, they were singing but they all stopped when she entered. The people were tall and beautiful. They wore clothes in colors that matched the trees, flowing robes and weapons that looked like they came out of a novel. One of them started to walk towards her. He had a noble bearing and stars in his eyes.
“Who are you child, and how have you come to Rivendell?”
“Rivendell?” and here Capitola laughed, “This is my uncle’s valley and it’s not called Rivendell. I should be asking you how you came into it.” At this declaration several of the others behind the speaker took offense. A pair that looked identical took steps forward, both reaching for their weapons. Capitola took no notice of
this.
“There must be some mistake child, I and my people have lived here for hundreds of your generations. It is you who is the intruder, not us.”
“By demmy, don’t call me child. My name is Capitola. Capitola Black and I say that you are on my Uncle’s land, who ever you might be.”
The speaker gave her a funny look with an arching of his eyebrow, he said, “I am Lord Elrond,” he said introducing himself. He gestured to the two behind him, “And these are my sons Elrohir and Elladan.”
Capitola nodded to them, her eyes flitting over all the assembled people. All were beautiful beyond belief, the men and the women. There was something else about them. They had pointed ears! “Fairies!” Elrond took a step back, almost into his sons.
“I’m sorry what did you call me?” he asked.
“Fairies! You have pointed ears, just like Fairies!” Capitola cried and leapt off her pony to the ground. She straightened her riding skirts and marched over to Elrond. “Are they real?” Her hand reached up to touch one. Elrond’s hand dashed out and grabbed her wrist in a tight grip, much tighter than Capitola would have thought possible in such a slender man. She began to twist to try and break free. Her free fist lashed out catching the Elf Lord in the stomach. Elrond gave a surprised shout of pain. This caused Elrohir to quickly notch and arrow and fire it at the girl.
His aim was true and it went right through her neck. Her body went limp. Gently Elrond laid the girl down before rounding angrily on his son. “She gave me no hurt!” he said. “Why did you fire to kill?”
“I thought she had a knife.” Elrohir said abashed.
“Now we’ll never know where she came from.” Elrond said sadly, “Or what she meant by calling us Fairies.”
The End
I put this in my paper. I can't believe I did this. I'm probably going to fail misserably... Must go bullshit my way out of it.
