Feb. 25th, 2010 01:33 pmLot of death...
I just found out that a friend of the family died. He was the rabbi at my grandmother's shul. When she died, he presided over her funeral. We had him over for Jewish holidays and Thanksgiving. He came to the library where I worked. Every time he saw me he would say we had such a wonderful family and he wish he could have been a part of it. I never knew what to say to that.
He wasn't a young man, but he wasn't old and quivering. Maybe in his fifties. He died in his sleep about a month ago. It was only coincidence that I found out.
We last saw him at Hannukah. I don't remember what we got him, but he loved it. We made plans to see him for Tu'Bishvat but he never called. We figured he forgot.
Turns out... hah.
He was a good man. Annoying at times. But he had a big heart, a good heart which my mom says is the most important thing.
