Pretty Bird

We put Pepper to sleep today. He'd been sick for a while and the past couple of weeks he just got really bad. He lost a lot of weight he was pratically skin and bones- and the vet said he had no muscle left. He wasn't singing or anything, just sleeping all the time.
We got Pepper around the time the Two Towers came out (so that was around 2001?) and I wanted to name him Pippin, but I got over-ruled. As he was a green I suggested Pepper. My mom wanted to name him Birdy.
Pepper was a very playful bird in that he liked playing games with us. Most of the time it was 'catch me'. He loved being with my dad, sitting with him while my dad worked on his computer and following him around the house. He always got excited when my dad got home from the gym and if he had a choice, he would go with my dad.
He was just always there, I guess, always a part of the conversation and the family. Always chirruping his opinion on matters. He learned how to mimic the crows in our neighborhood as well as the mocking birds, his voice was just to high pitch to do the crows properly, so it was funny.
One of the biggest problems was that my mom kept on trying to train him not to do things and my dad wouldn't enforce it. Pepper got very smug at times because of said spoilage.
Pepper was a perfectly charming and lovely obnoxious critter and a definite member of the family.
I hope he's happy now with our other birds and that we'll see him again.
