This one has been floating in my head for a bit. At least this scene. I'm not sure where it'll actually go... well, actually, it's fairly simple where it should go, but getting there, now THERE'S the problem. =D

"You realize," Jono said scathingly, as he sat in the dirt manacled to Alec. "This is all your fault."

"My fault?" Alec asked, "How is it my fault?" He squirmed his hands trying to get them free of the manacles, but all he seemed to do is rub his wrists raw. Glaring out at the camp he could see their kidnappers milling around the fire talking about something he couldn't understand, their voices being too low. There were six of them, which normally wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that the manacles dampened both his and Jono's magical abilities. He could still sense the elements much like he could see the rain looking out a window.

"You're the one who suggested that bar." Jono gave a rough tug on the manacles trying to roll his shoulders. His arms tingled from falling asleep. His feet were also falling asleep. Their kidnappers tied their feet together with rope after he and Alec tried to make a run for it. Not that it would do much good to run right now, he had no idea where they were except on the plains, the very large going for miles and miles and miles plains. He could see the mountains which was home, but he had no idea how far away they were. The wide openness made his stomach twist unpleasently. He'd never been out of the mountains before and the long expanse of flat nothingness made him feel exposed. Not that he'd ever admit it to anyone.

Alec tugged roughly back, his fingers digging into Jono's palm, getting some satisfaction from the other's yelp of pain. "You're the one who wanted to go somewhere different." Annoyingly, the bottom of his foot started to itch. He squirmed his foot around trying to scratch it on the bottom of his boot. "You should have seen it coming."

Twisting Alec's fingers, Jono snapped, "I can't see my own future." No Oracle could, as frustrating as that made life."You should have used your fancy fey sword to do something."

"Like you should have used your magic, master I'm best in class so neeeh?"

"The bar was crowded and I was drunk."

"And so was I."

Jono grunted, "See if I ever have sex with you again."

That caused Alec to give a loud barking laugh. "I'm the only one who will, you -" he stopped in mid-sentence as one of the men walked over to them.

Grizzled, his face leathery from spending lots of time in the sun, wearing tattered armor -bits of chainmail and leather looking like they were stitched together- and a smell of a dead dog, he gave the two of them a long hard look. "You two boys better stop your blathering or I'll gag you," he growled like a dog which was not dead. "And then beat you."
