The Con itself.

I didn't get to see as many panels as I wanted to. There were hour long lines for most of the panels to get in. I saw one with J. Michael Straczynski, the guy who created Babylon Five. He talked about writing and trying to get into the business. I went to the big Lost panel. I went to get in line an hour and a half early, figuring that would be plenty of time to get in front of the line. I discovered, much to my horror, that the panel before it, the Heroes panel, had a line over a mile long and that some people had staked out a place the night before and slept there to be first in line. Fortunately, the line for Lost when I got in it, wasn't nearly as long and I was relatively near the front. Relatively as compared to a mile away. Though I don't know if the line was that long.

I got into the Lost panel, fortunately. It was sponsored by the Dharama initiative. And the head guy from Dharama came out and said that the people who got tested were abysmal. Apparently he thought that a bunch of comic book geeks would be good recruits. Still he found five people. And it was good. The panel was fun too. People asked questions and they got prizes appropriate to their questions. They gave out a polar bear for someone who asked about Vincent, a life vest for someone who asked about the people in the raft with Faraday, a t-shirt that says "I asked about Dr. Richard Alpert and all I got was a lousy t-shirt" when he asked about Dr. Richard Alpert. Mathew Fox showed up as well as a surprise guest after the speakers denied that anyone from the cast would be showing up. There was a spoiler for next season which I shan't mention because I don't know who still watches Lost here and then the Dharama Initiative shut down the panel and withdrew their support.

In between I went to the gaming room and played some 4th edition delves which gave me a better idea of what 4th edition is like. I did enjoy it. Even if I did die. I played a rogue and a battle mage.

On the floor I got a portfolio review for a grant to publish a comic book. It was for Prism Comics, an organization that helps promote comic books that deal with GLBT community. They said it was good and I should apply for the grant. Which I shall. I also handed out some query letters and proposals to various people. So, I should be getting rejection letters soon. However I did get some leads on freelance work which I'm going to jump on tonight. Last night I was all brain dead. As you are after five days of Comic Con.

One of the leads I looked at said that the work wouldn't be paid but could lead to a paying freelance job. So, it's worth it. Even to get my name in print.

The popular costumes this year were Ledger!Joker and Indiana Jones. There were, of course, the usual flock of Jedi around as well with lightsabers. I have decided to try and make a Jedi outfit for next year's con. Just like I said I would for this year.

So, that was the Con
