I don't know how functioning your Thomas is, or how old, but most autistic adults that I talk to don't want to be cured. Not to be insultive or anything, but the idea of becoming normal (which would mean non-autistic in Autistic circles. Also Neurotypical or mainstream) is rather abhorrent to us. We don't want to become normal because, to be frank, we think the lot of you are nutters.
BUT you do have the right attitude for which I give you full props for. As my mom constantly says, you just need to give your child what he needs (which isn't necessarily what he wants... much to our chagrin, but that's with all kids. XD )
