More on that Braxious drabble...

“Hey Brax, Justin,” Braxious’ father said as the two boys came up to the car. He gave them a boyish grin, opening up the door to the back seat of the car. “How was school?”
“Hi, Mr. Troven,” Justin said as he climbed into the back seat.
“School was fine, dad,” Braxious said, following Justin. The door was shut and the safety belts were pulled on as Mr. Troven slid into the front seat. There was a low rumbling noise, as opposed to the smooth whine from the hover cars, as the car was started. Mr. Troven turned the car out onto the road as he fixed his rear view mirror.
“Just fine?” he asked.
“Yeah. Nothing rocketing or anything,” Braxious said, trying to keep the exasperation out of his voice. He stared out the window with a sigh, watching the houses go by. There wasn’t an entertainment unit in the car, just a radio (which was tuned to an classical oldies station); there wasn’t even a GPS unity inside of it. Braxious’ dad claimed that he didn’t need one since he had an excellent sense of direction. This was, as far as Braxious knew, true. He had never seen his dad get lost.
“Alright, if you say so,” Mr. Troven allowed, “What about you, Justin?”
“About the same.” This was said with a bit more enthusiasm that Braxious’ reply. “Brax said that he was going with you to work tomorrow?”
“Hrm? Oh yes. Take your child to work day is tomorrow, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. I’m going with my mom on her shuttle route,” Justin said nodding his head.
“That sounds like fun.”
“It is. I even get to fly it for bits.”
“Lucky…” Braxious grumbled.
As that was said, Mr. Troven let out a sudden curse and slammed on the brakes as a speed bike suddenly darted in front of the car. Braxious and Justin were thrown forward, but caught in their safety belts. The wheels made a horrific screeching noise as the tires stopped their forward motion. Letting out a few more curses under his breath, Mr. Troven turned to look back at them.
“You guys okay?” he asked.
