kippurbird: (hee!)
And now for something nice.

I saw the King's Speech last night. Good movie.

Taking place after the Great War, it involves Prince Albert who then becomes, over the course of the movie, King George VI's efforts to get over his stammering habit with an unorthodox speech therapist from Australia. Based on true events and everything. It's a very quiet sort of movie with fantastic actors, though my brain kept on going "Oh hey there's that guy!" Since speech, or the inability to speak clearly was so important to the movie even the silences and the people's expressions in reaction to the inability to speak were well done.

The characters were engaging and from the very first scene you felt for the Prince-King as he stands there, the entire world, waiting for him to speak and you just wanted to go sliding under the chair in embarrassment for him.

I really really liked it. It was funny, serious and heartwarming and all over a good time.
