Dumbledore isn't dead!!

Yes. This is my theory. Let me explain.

One of the reaccuring incidents that happens in Harry Potter is the use of the Polyjuice potion. It was first used in the Chamber of Secrets by Harry and Ron, then in the Goblet of Fire by Barty Jr. and in book six by Draco and his cronies.

Second off, Dumbledore has a brother. Again he was first mentioned in the Prisoner of Azkaban, the second time was in the Order of the Phoenix when Moody shows Harry the pitcture of the original order, mentioning that that was the only time he ever saw him, and then JK confirms that the barkeep at the Boar's Head. It seems rather... useless to mention the brother unless he's going to have some part to play.

So, this is my theory. Dumbledore and Abernforth took a polyjuice potion to look like each other. Abernforth was the one that took Harry to get the Horcrux, it was done to keep Dumbledore in reserve in case someone went after Harry. Neither of them were expecting the attack on Hogwarts, so it was felt that while there was a bit of risk involved, Snape would be able to help if anything bad happened.

Unfortunately, the school was attacked. Draco and Snape end up confronting "Dumbledore" who is seriously ill. The Polyjuice potion could wear off at anytime, thus exposing the ruse. So Abernforth takes one for the team. Thrown off the top of the castle, we never see his body again.

Thus, while the world thinks that Dumbledore is dead, he is in fact safe pretending to be his brother or able to go into hiding.

What say you?
