Partly inspired by several things. One was that Chloe wanted some Lorac stuff. She's a Lorac fan girl. One was this rant by [livejournal.com profile] limyaael about emapthic bonds and soul mates. I think I moved passed that cliche, or at least I hope I did. After all, Lorac and Alec may be destined lovers etc, but Alec's certainly not happy about it and Lorac's utterly insane.

Timeline wise, this story takes place right after the events detailed in Love Lust and the Apocalypse, Alec timeline. He's just gotten back from the past where he ran away from getting married to Lorac. This would take place either at the end of the third novel or at the beginning of the fourth novel in the series.

"Hello, Alec."

The voice was familiar. Damn familiar, like he had heard it a thousand times before, caressing him in his mind, welcoming him in the mornings. It felt good to hear it. It felt right that he should hear it. It was someone telling him that they loved him. Completely and utterly, no turning back.

Turning, Alec saw his godfather Kratz standing there, an amused smile on his face. He frowned. The voice didn't belong to his godfather. It belonged to someone else. And yet it did belong to his godfather. It was his voice. He looked at the old witch, uncertainly.

Kratz came forward. "I've been waiting for you," he said. Still in that same voice. And there was still that connection. He could feel Kratz. He knew Kratz... but there was something different about him. About their connection. He could feel Kratz in his mind.

"This... isn't you," Alec said, hesitantly. The voice didn't fit. The face didn't fit.

"No, it's not. Would you like to see who I am?"

Alec nodded numbly.

Years melted away from him. Skin smoothed out and his hair went from white to white blond. His eyes, those icy blue eyes, stayed the same though.

Alec took a step back, recognizing him. "Lorac!" he cried.

"Yes."

"But... but... you died!"

He scowled here, "I didn't die, I found a way to live until you were born. I needed you and you left me!"

"I had to leave you! I couldn't marry you!"

"Why not?" And he moved in dangerously close, Alec could feel his breath on his cheek. He wanted to kiss the man, soundly. Hold him, promise him that they'd never be apart. He took another step back and flashed his left hand.

A ring was on it.

"I'm married!"

Lorac's expression changed from annoyance to utter furry. "You're married? To whom? Why? How could you? You're mine!" He grabbed Alec and pulled him into a hard kiss. Alec found himself kissing back. It felt good to be kissing him. It felt good to be in his arms, like they were meant to be together, always touching. "You're mine, can't you feel it?"

Terrified at his feelings, Alec pulled away from Lorac. "I've got to go. I do, I'm sorry. Verra's missing me. I need to go."

Grabbing his wrist in a vice like grip, Lorac growled, "You are mine. No one else's but mine. Now come with me." And with that, he walked off, pulling Alec with him.
